ENV462-533, Water Quality and Health is centered around an in-stream assessment of water quality.  Students examine in-stream quality by observing watershed characteristics such as vegetative cover, land use and agricultural management practices.  At several bridge crossings they examine stream physiography, potential point and non-point sources of pollution and they colled various measurements including pH, conductivity, temperature and dissolved oxygen.  Discrete water samples are collected for analysis of nitrate-nitrogen and phosphate-phosphorus in the Environmental Health Laboratory at West Chester University.  An assessment of total coliforms is  also included for selected samples.
