State System of Higher Education.
As Special Assistant in the Office of the Chancellor I have the responsibility to help plan and facilitate the activities of the System’s Planning Advisory Council (PAC) in relation to the current state-wide strategic planning process. My duties include coordinating and facilitating the PAC meetings, presenting status reports about the System plan to the campuses (Faculty Forums), the Board of Governors and the System Senior staff. I also have the charge of drafting and editing the System plan.
West Chester University.
As Chairperson of the Department of Anthropology and Sociology I have administrative and fiscal responsibility for an academic department of 15 faculty members and approximately 50 courses per semester.
As Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Director of Sponsored Research I have administrative responsibilities for admissions, student appeals, assisting in program review and curriculum development. I held duties as the University's grants officer and I manage the application and submission of all contracts and grants.
As Interim Dean of the School of Health Sciences I maintained academic and administrative responsibilities for the departments of Health, Communicative Disorders, Nursing and Physical Education.
As Director of the University-Wide Gerontology Program my duties include creating and developing a campus wide program in the field of aging. I have been involved in grant writing, research and community activities as well as teaching required and elective courses for the Graduate Certificate in Gerontology. As Graduate Coordinator my responsibilities included the supervision and administration of the four graduate programs located in the Department of Health.
University of Tennessee. As Co-Chair and Assistant Professor of Public Health my responsibilities included the administration of departmental programs and policies. My teaching duties were in the fields of bio-statistics and Health Administration.
Yale University. During post-doctoral work at Yale, I worked with the NIA sponsored Yale Health and Aging Project doing literature reviews, data management and report writing. I also completed course work for the MPH degree.
University of Georgia. My duties and responsibilities as an Associate in the Gerontology Program encompassed curriculum development, program implementation, pre-retirement planning, and grant writing. I also directed a number of ongoing research and consulting projects including ones dealing with long-term health care, educational needs of older adults, and health policy for the elderly. I also served as campus ELDERHOSTEL coordinator and taught in the Department of Sociology on an adjunct basis.
Jacksonville State University. In my position as Director of the Geriatric/Aging Studied Program, I maintained fiscal and administrative responsibility for the development of this academic program. the University was awarded $250,000 to create the program and as Director I hired, administrative and clerical staff, developed the curriculum, and implemented the academic certification in Gerontology. Additionally, I brought in federal and state funds for the operation of special projects. My teaching responsibilities included the following courses: Medical Sociology, Health Policy and Planning for Long-Term Care, Social Gerontology, and other Sociology and Gerontology courses.
Health Care Management Systems, Inc. Health Care Management Systems is a not-for-profit institution dedicated to health care education, research, and consultation. My position as Research Associate with this organization included the responsibility for designing a methodology and data analysis scheme for a nationwide study of ambulatory care quality assurance programs. My role in this project funded by the Bureau of Quality Assurance (HEW) involved extensive site visits, final policy recommendations, and liaison activities with the Federal PSRO Office in Washington.
