Chemistry Teaching Resources
Created by Knut Irgum - Maintained by Svante Åberg. This is an attempt to present a comprehensive list
of chemistry teaching resources on the Internet.
Earth Portal
The Earth Portal
is a comprehensive resource for timely, objective, science-based information about the environment. It is a means for the global
scientific community to come together to produce the first free, expert-driven, massively scaleable information resource on the
environment, and to engage civil society in a public dialogue on the role of environmental issues in human affairs. It contains no
commercial advertising and reaches a large global audience
The Earth Portal has three components:
- The Encyclopedia of Earth,
with over 2,000 articles, is produced and reviewed by 700 scholars from
46 countries.
- The EarthForum
provides commentary from scholars and discussions with the general
public.
- The EarthNews
offers news stories on environmental issues drawn from many sources.
Educational Sites in Surface Science
Maintained by me. It contains a range of links to sites concerned with education in surface science,
chemistry and physics.
IUPAC Goldbook
Welcome to the interactive version of IUPAC Compendium of Chemical Terminology, informally known
as the Gold Book. On these pages you will find a browsable, interactive version of this publication.
You may start:
To learn more about the Gold Book and this interactive version see the about page.
NIST Webbook
The NIST WebBook provides access to data compiled and distributed by NIST under the
Standard Reference Data Program.
The NIST Chemistry WebBook contains:
- Thermochemical data for over 7000 organic and small inorganic compounds
- Reaction thermochemistry data for over 8000 reactions
- IR spectra for over 16,000 compounds
- Mass spectra for over 15,000 compounds
- UV/Vis spectra for over 1600 compounds
- Gas chromatography data for over 27,000 compounds
- Electronic and vibrational spectra for over 5000 compounds
- Constants of diatomic molecules (spectroscopic data) for over 600 compounds
- Ion energetics data for over 16,000 compounds
- Thermophysical property data for 74 fluids
You can search for data on specific compounds in the Chemistry WebBook based on name, chemical formula, CAS registry number,
molecular weight, chemical structure, or selected ion energetics and spectral properties.

Thermodynamics of Solutions
A notebook for topics in thermodynamics of solutions and liquid mixtures from the University of Leicester.
WebElements Periodic Table
The WebElements scholar edition aims to be a high quality
source of information on the WWW about the periodic table for students.
You will find many pictures showing element structures and periodic
properties
