This article describes various building projects that were underway on campus including a new student center (Lawrence), the first phase of the new science building (Schmucker), "two Y- shaped dorms to accommodate women students" both seven stories and able to house a total of 892 students (Goshen and Tyson), and a third Y-shaped dormitory at the corner of Sharpless and New Streets that will have only six stories because of budget problems.
West Chester State College's new radio station made its debut on Monday, November 16 at 8pm on 640AM radio. There are plans to broadcast every style of music, but the station currently owns no rock-n-roll records. During the hours when it is not on the air, it will rebroadcast WJBR-FM.
West Chester State College plans to increase its enrollment to 3800 next year. This will create further demand on housing, but all seniors will not be required to live off campus as someone had already proposed. Instead, seniors may chose to live in off-campus homes, private homes or in the town where they student teach. Students who are over the age of 21 have the right to live wherever they chose. The shortage should last only one year until the new dormitories are completed.
This editorial complains that students have recently begun to deposit litter on campus and to ignore the sidewalks by walking on the grass. The author wonders if it has anything to do with the proliferation of construction sites on campus.
The `Lantern Coffeehouse' is located at 17 W. Union Street. It was started by a group of West Chester State College students led by Ms. Alda Marsh.
