Six Europeans died from yellow fever by the time of this report, mostly in September and October. They were Coudert (June 11), Perrin (September 16), Santini (September 7), Petit (October 13), Tissier (October 14), and Laroque (October 20). Since additional Europeans had been sent home for ill health, the railroad was short-handed just as the harvest was about to start.
NOTE: Another report dated November 4, 1906, mentions that M. Nogue died of yellow fever on November 1, 1906.
