INSTRUCTIONS:

Download the portfolio file to your hard drive.
portfolios.sit (Mac or Windows)
portfolios.zip (Windows)
Expand them into a single project folder.
Note:  If the computer doesn't automatically expand the file,
download StuffItExpander from the following site.
http://www.aladdinsys.com.
Replace or edit the files described below.

How do I do it?

Most modern word processor can write HTML pages.  Type the information into the word processor, include pictures as desired, save as a "web" or "html" file. 
NOTE:  If you will be tweaking the file further with a web editor, consider doing the entire project in the web editor.

Edit the following files in the portfolio project folder.
  1. home.html - This is the first page that will be seen.  Feel free to include a picture of yourself and a cover letter describing your professional goals and objectives.
  2. resume.html - Place your resume here.
  3. philosophy.html - Many school districts require an essay on your philosophy of education or music education as a part of the application process.
  4. elementary.html - You will include one or more elementary lesson plans.  These may be from elementary methods or student teaching.
  5. secondary.html - You will include one or more secondary lesson plans.  These may be from secondary methods or student teaching.
  6. other.html - You will include one or more lesson plans from choral or instrumental methods or student teaching.
  7. elementary.mov - Up to one megabyte of digital video of an elementary lesson, saved as a compressed QuickTime movie may be included in your web site.  Simply place a file entitled, elementary.mov in your portfolio folder.  These may be from methods courses or student teaching.
  8. secondary.mov - You may also include a digital video of a secondary lesson in your portfolio.  Name the file, secondary.mov.  If you have more than one movie (either secondary or elementary) edit the page videoelementary.html or videosecondary.html as needed.
  9. recital.mov - A digital audio excerpt of your recital from your CD may be added to your portfolio project.  The file should be saved as a QuickTime Movies and named, recital.mov.  If you wish to include multiple excerpts, edit the page, recital.html as needed.
  10. photos.html - This space contains an area for pictures of your professional activities (teaching, conferences, concerts, etc.)  Edit this page as needed.
  11. more.html - Include anything else that you'l like here.
  12. leftframe.html - If you decide to omit any of the information above from your portfolio, it's best to also eliminate the link from the menu screen.  This may be done by editing the file, leftframe.html.  Please be certain to upload the modified version of  this file only to your area!
