CAPTURE AN AUDIO TRACK
FROM CD
USING MOVIE PLAYER

This document explains the process of converting an audio track to a file appropriate for display on the internet or for incorporation into a multimedia project.  Necessary copyright permissions should be obtained prior to using copyrighted material!
 

1.  Insert the audio CD into the CD ROM drive

2.  Run Movie Player

3.  Choose OPEN from the FILE menu and select the desired CD.

4.  Click the desired track then click the CONVERT button.

5.  Click the OPTIONS button

6. Complete the options in the dialog box which appears.
Set the desired sample rate 
Recommended rates: 
    44.1 kHz for re-recording music to CD 
    11 kHz for music on the internet internet 
Set the sample depth 
Recommended 
    16 bits for music 
    08 bits for voice 
Select mono or stereo recording, 
Recommended 
    STEREO for re-recording to CD 
    MONO for internet 
Set the length of the desired sample 
(set the starting and ending times) 
Use the Play button to test the selection.
Recommended 
    The entire track for re-recording to CD 
    Only a few seconds for the internet 

 7.  When finished, click the "OK Button"

8.  Rename the file with the ".mov" extension (soundfile.mov)
9.  Finally, navigate to the location where the sound file should be saved
     and click the save button. Note: You cannot save to the CD so the
     "Save" button will not initially be highlighted.
 
 

10.  After the audio track is saved to the hard drive, it will open as an audio only
movie in MoviePlayer. A video track may be added if desired (animation, scrolling-
notation, call-chart, etc.).
