Last February, the Provost appointed and charged the Distance
Education Task Force with
development of the University's Distance Education Plan. All SSHE universities have been requested
by the Office of the Chancellor to develop distance education plans, and guidelines for development of
these plans were provided by the Office of the Chancellor. The original membership of the WCU
Distance Education Task Force included Gary Knock, Chair; Thomas Egan; Sharon Ennis; Thomas
Gill; Sandra Kerr; Michael Pearson; Daniel Pauletti; Joseph Stigora; Emlyn Jones; Joel Ressner; and
David Timmann. The task force has worked throughout the past spring semester and summer in the
development of an institutional plan for distance education.
A copy of the
Distance Education Plan is attached for review. Open hearings on
the plan are
scheduled for October 12th from 3 to 4:30 p. m. in 252 Sykes and October 15th from 10 to 11:30 a. m.
in 209 Sykes. Members of the faculty and staff who have comments or questions about the proposed
plan are invited to attend one of the hearings. Members of the Distance Education Task Force will be
in attendance at the hearings. Comments received will be reviewed by the task force for inclusion in
the Distance Education Plan. The plan will be presented to the Provost on or before October 25th.
