Anonymity on the Internet

It's 1999 and everybody who is anybody is online. Recent Internet demographics state that worldwide there is an estimated 215 million people online (Globe Reach, 1999). Whether they are using email, chat rooms, newsgroups, or the instant messenger feature, people are powering up their computers and getting connected (Suler, 1999). In this new age of technology we must ask ourselves:

Do people communicate differently online than in face to face encounters?

Is it safe to meet an online love offline? Cyberstalkings: What are the dangers of the Internet? How can children be protected online?
