English 121: Effective Writing II
After writing your statement of situation and strategy, your next step in the process of building your argument should be to gather evidence for your case through doing thorough research. In your exploratory paper you researched the different players on the issue; now, you will further your research with the goal of locating the best evidence to support your claim (see CE 139-40). You are required to
NOTE: If you are having trouble locating additional evidence for your argument, you should conference with me individually, outside of class, no later than the week of 10/25-10/29. If you neglect to do so and turn in a bibliography without the requisite number and kind of sources, I will do a search myself; if I find sources that you didn't, your essay will be penalized.
- find seven additional sources for your argument (these cannot have been part of your bibliography for the exploratory paper)
- three of these seven must be academic publications (check with me if you're not sure about a source);
- read these sources and write an annotated entry for each of about fifty words (for examples see Dr. Creed Greer's sample entries);
- submit these items in a bibliography that conforms to either MLA or APA style.
